Thanks to Bollywood, andhera, toofan and long drives have a romantic significance for most women. While we all wish that Ranbir Kapoor would come and say ‘I love you’ to us the Marine Drive way, chances are, hardly anyone will even pause to offer help.So, when you’re stranded in the middle of nowhere, with your car stuck in a water-logged road, make sure you’re capable of finding your way out with these monsoon must-haves for women:
Gum boots
You don’t want to step into those gaddhas and soak those Loubotins and Jimmy Choos, or, okay, even Zara leather sandals, in infected water, do you? Buy a pair of gum boots and stash them in the boot. There’s nothing for protecting your pedicured feet like high plastic boots, and hey, they are stylish too!
Phone charger
Stuck in an impromptu ‘lake’ that just sprang up, with a phone that ‘justtt’ died because of low battery, means no chances of help coming soon. While you can always ask for a passer-by to let you make a call, it’s best to keep a phone charger in your car. Yes, you can thank us later.
Flashlight
Gurgaon can’t really boast of good roads, and now, with the Rapid Metro digging up the roadsides, and the absence of street lights on most roads in the city, odds are that your car might get stuck and you won’t know where! Keep a flashlight to enlighten yourself.
Tow-rope and shovel
Resist the urge to race your car through flooded roads. It can get damaged, and you don’t know what potholes or gutters are lying open underneath. But in case your tyres get stuck in wet mud, do you want to go running around looking for something that you can hitch your car with to a passing vehicle that just offered to help? Keep a tow-rope. A shovel will also be needed to loosen the muck around your tyres to extricate yourself. Don’t give us a chance to say, we told you so!
First-aid box
Although it’s important to keep a first-aid kit in you dashboard at all times, it’s even more critical during the monsoon. Band-aids, antiseptic, cotton et al are a must since you never know what situation you might end up in. As they say, prevention is always better than cure.
